The countdown to camp is almost over. What can a fantasy football manager expect from the Seahawks? A general summary of the most likely scenario is that the offseason will have solidified the offensive line and main offensive areas of fantasy production to launch Seattle’s offensive production to the next level. Even better for fantasy managers, though not for fans, is that Seattle did not do the same for the defensive front seven. All respect to LB Bobby Wagner, but the most rational analysis of this D is that they will be even more porous against the run than last year. And they were essentially laughable at times. Any team capable of running and willing to run against Seattle should have their running backs started by default by all fantasy managers. All the more considering that Seattle may have an extremely talented pass defense. All in all the over line should progress upwards over the season and 40+ points on both sides may not seem unusual at all. With that in mind here is more detail by position.

QB:

Honestly, the worst possible scenario is that QB Geno Smith has peaked and his production drops off next year. If that happens, considering the defensive issues, then Seattle will do very poorly and could again have a top 10 or top 5 pick next year but with all other positions other than quarterback and defensive front seven completely solid. However, I think Geno will have another strong year. Seattle traditionally runs the ball, but they are also finding themselves deadly in the passing game with all the added talent. I am hoping the offensive line will be LT Charles Cross, LG Damien Lewis, OC Olu Oluwatimi, RG Phil Haynes, and RT Abe Lucas. RG Anthony Bradford also has a shot at starting. OC Evan Brown may be a more likely starter than Olu, but Olu looks like the right starter to me. All indications are that Geno will be a fantastic early pickup in fantasy drafts.

RB:

RB Ken Walker and RB Zach Charbonnet are both talented runners who can participate in the passing game too. Assuming they both stay healthy, they will share a good amount of targets as well as carries. Walker is the better pick out of the gate, but Charbonnet will gain on him over the season.

WR:

WR DK Metcalf is capable of leading the league in fantasy production. That is why he is constantly doubled and game planned against despite having the talented WR Tyler Lockett on the field too. Lockett does struggle with injury and it seems that only one of these guys gets their game on at any particular moment. Now comes WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. If teams treat him like they did last year's attempts at a third receiver, then he could be the receiving leader in any game. Watch his chemistry with Geno over camp and draft him high. This trio is going to be deadly and DK may have his best year yet against stretched defenses.

TE:

TE Noah Fant, TE Will Dissly, and TE Colby Parkinson are all solid veterans who have never had three solid receivers on the field with them until now. Fant is a logical pick for a breakout, but I am watching Parkinson as a sleeper. Assuming Geno even needs to count down to the tight end.

K:

PK Jason Myers can only be expected to increase in fantasy value with the likelihood of high scoring games. He can even go back to his pre contract year inaccurate self and still excel.

D:

As stated earlier, this group is a cause for concern. There is a lack of depth at key positions and frankly there may be a lack of size as well. We can expect a lot from DT Dre’Mont Jones and even DT Cameron Young. Even DT Mario Edwards is intriguing. But after that the best we can hope for is average. There is also not much depth on the outside behind second round pick DE Derick Hall, DE Uchenna Nwosu, DE Darrell Taylor, and DE Boye Mafe. Also perhaps not much of an upside despite Nwosu looking quite strong last year and getting paid for it.

The linebackers group welcomes back LB Bobby Wagner, but he will not have much help. LB Devin Bush and LB Jordyn Brooks will likely struggle and the middle may seem like it is all Bobby all day.

The secondary is a whole different conversation with CB Devon Witherspoon, CB Tariq Woolen, CB Coby Bryant, and CB Mike Jackson plus FS Quandre Diggs, SS Jamal Adams and FS Julian Love. This unit has tons of upside and depth which should further lead opponents to simply rely on the run to score a couple of times a quarter and challenge Geno to outscore them.
