Fox 4 reports Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice continues to face criminal and civil proceedings in the aftermath of a March 2024 street-racing crash in Dallas. A third lawsuit has now been filed against him. Kayla Quinn alleges that she and her son sustained physical and mental injuries when their car was struck during the race involving Rice. They sued both Rice and former SMU football player Theodore Knox. Quinn and her son seek between $250,000 and $1 million in damages. Two other lawsuits were filed against Rice and Knox in April 2024. They separately have been charged with multiple crimes. The prosecution is pending. The league does not plan to take action against Rice until the criminal case has ended.

HC Matt LaFleur did not say when Watson, who was injured in Week #18, might be ready for a fuller workload, but he did say he thinks it could be sooner than originally expected. “Christian is doing outstanding,” LaFleur said. “I would say he’s ahead of schedule, but I’m not a doctor. I’m not medical staff. So we’ll see where he’s at.” Being placed on the PUP list to open training camp seems likely for Watson and remaining on the list into the regular season would keep him out for at least four games.

While the workouts are voluntary, his absence may be part of an agreement with the team. Huff is guaranteed $16.75 million this season and trading him after June 1st would provide some cap relief, so keeping him off the field and able to pass a physical could be part of the team’s thinking. ESPN reports a QB Kirk Cousins trade would have already taken place by now if the Atlanta Falcons had been willing to absorb a portion (such as $7 or $8 million) of his $27.5 million base salary for the coming season (instead of the $20 million they want suitors to take on). They are clearly not prepared to do so, and that position is unlikely to change any time soon. The Browns and Vikings added to their quarterback depth charts during the draft (through the selection of rookies in one case, and a trade in the other). The Saints, meanwhile, are not aiming to make an outside addition in the wake of QB Derek Carr‘s retirement. As a result, Pittsburgh will continue to be a team to monitor on the Cousins front. The 36-year-old is under contract through 2027 (although the Steelers could move on from him prior to that point), and he could be seen as a multi-year investment under center. Rodgers, by contrast, will likely represent a one-and-done addition presuming a contract agreement is eventually reached. Until and unless that happens, though, the Steelers will no doubt continue to keep tabs on Cousins’ availability.

USA Today reports RB Saquon Barkley wants the Philadelphia Eagles to keep the tush-push. And he had some fairly strong comments for those who want to kill it. “I think it’s soft, to be honest,” Barkley said. “Everybody can do it. It’s not a play that we only can do. We happen to have one of the best and biggest O-lines, and QB Jalen Hurts can squat 600 pounds. That’s not our fault.” Barkley’s remarks were made before the unsuccessful vote to eliminate the play. Still, 22 of 32 teams wanted to dump it. That’s 68.75 percent of the entire league. “Josh Allen is super big, they’re not successful with it,” Barkley said. (The Bills use a different version of it, and they’re the only other team whose success compares to Philly’s.) “Lamar Jackson is one of the best running quarterbacks of all-time, they’re not successful with it. So it’s not something that everyone can’t do. Them trying to eliminate it, I think that’s kind of lame.”

The Steelers play in Chicago this year. The Saints do, too, but there has been no link between the quarterback-needy Saints and the free agent who says he’s up for anything and committed to nothing.
