Houston Texans May Scouting Report
David Trojanowsky
5/25/2024

Newly acquired WR Stefon Diggs surprised most of us by not showing up for the voluntary OTAs. The Texans voided the final two years of his contract for a reason. Expectations of Stefon are reasonable. A one-year rental for a WR playing for a new contract. Stay tuned.

The Texans need various upgrades. They have 21.8 MM of cap cash available to make moves. Offensive and / or defensive line depth is a need. Expect signing more FAs in June.

Without interior offensive line upgrades, good Ds will again wreak havoc against the Texans’ pass protection and running game. Last year the O-Line had problems against good D’s. LG play has been especially suspect the last few years. LG Kenyon Green is a first rounder trying to return this year after a disastrous injury plagued beginning of his career. If he cannot do it, LG LaDarius Henderson may be able to play that position. Henderson was their last selection in the seventh round of April’s draft. I like this guy. He can block for the running game. Has huge hands, the largest hands since JJ Watt. Will be pulling for Kenyon Green and LaDarius Henderson to put life back in LG. OT Blake Fisher selection in the second round may provide insurance for the OTs.

I do see the Texans spending more of their remaining cash cap for veteran FA DTs.

That is how it looks here Houston in May. Now the mini-camps and the last wave of FA signings will take place.

End.
