New York Giants June Scouting Report
Tony DeArmas
6/25/2024

Here is the Giants update for June:

QB Daniel Jones should be ready for training camp without limitations. He looked very smooth during OTA’s earlier this month. I don’t believe the playbook will be drastically cut back to reduce run plays for him either. His running ability is a threat and should give opposing defenses a headache. Barring any health issues for Jones, he will 100% be the starting quarterback. This is a prove it year for DJ as he has no guaranteed money in his contract for 2025-6. Health and continuity on the offensive line will be critical to the success of the passing game in 2024.

I’m not entirely sure that RB Devin Singletary will get a ton of work. Young RB’s Eric Gray and Tyrone Tracy will be pushing for playing time. Tracy in particular should be a 3rd down weapon with his receiving chops. There will be a lot to unpack here during training camp in July.

I really like the composition of the receivers room this year. Top pick WR Malik Nabers will lead the way and open things up for the rest of the group. I expect a big step forward this year from shifty slot WR Wan‘dale Robinson. WR Darius Slayton will be a solid veteran presence who can get deep and WR Jalin Hyatt is the prototypical home run threat.

TE Darren Waller retired. No surprise there and it will open up competition at the position. TE Daniel Bellinger is the defacto starter but keep an eye on rookie TE Theo Johnson who is an outstanding athlete and could be a factor in the passing game as the season progresses. He put up great numbers during the draft combine.

The defensive line will be a strength this year and the pass rush should be solid. The linebacking corps is also good led by LB Bobby Okereke. There will be competition at cornerback and safety to replace CB Adoree Jackson and S Xavier McKinney. This will get sorted out in training camp.

PK Graham Gano is a fixture.

That’s it for now.

More to come in July with training camp news….

End.
