Free Agency

The legal tampering window opened on March 10th. with contracts officially signable on the 12th. Last year, the Broncos re-signed six players within two weeks of the start of the new league year, this year they have re-signed QB Jarrett Stidham, T/G Matt Peart, DL DJ Jones, ILB Justin Strnad, and long snapper Michael Fraboni.

Bronco free agents signing elsewhere: RB Javonte Williams, QB Zack Wilson, ILB Cody Barton, CB Tremon Smith, P Riley Dixon, WR Lil'Jordon Humphrey

Transactions

Re-signed QB Jarrett Stidham to a two-year deal ($12M). Signed S Talanoa Hufanga to a three-year deal ($40M). Signed T/G Matt Peart to a two-year deal. Signed long snapper Michael Fraboni to a three-year deal. Signed DL DJ Jones to a three-year deal ($13M/yr). Signed ILB Dre Greenlaw to a three-year deal ($34M). Signed TE Evan Engram to a two-year deal ($32M). Signed WR Trent Sherfield to a two-year deal ($6M). Signed P Matt Haack. Re-signed FB Michael Burton.

Offense

Sean Payton's offenses historically thrive with versatile "joker" options at both running back and tight end. TE Evan Engram is positioned to be that bridge "tight-end joker," offering the flexibility to line up across the formation, be a significant receiving target, and contribute as a blocker in select scenarios. Defense Denver retained DT DJ Jones before free agency officially opened and added his two former San Francisco teammates: ILB Dre Greenlaw and S Talanoa Hufanga. Hufanga and Greenlaw will shore up the middle of Denver's defense and raise the ceiling for an already good defense if they remain healthy.

Special Teams

WR Trent Sherfield's principal responsibility will be "gunner" on special teams, a position they lost in free agency. Sherfield will give the offense more production than the defense received from CB Tremon Smith. For better or for worse, Denver knows what it is getting in P Matt Haack. For his part, Haack gets to reunite with Rizzi and punt in altitude with an NFL top-10 punt-coverage team.

Orangeman's Take

The expectations for the Denver Broncos are going through the roof now, that the team has addressed its roster weakness before the 2025 season. The caveat is that the free agents must stay healthy (with their injury histories) to meet those expectations. The Broncos are counting on the organization's focus on player wellness training, strength and conditioning, and nutrition to mitigate the risk of signing players with an injury history. Utilizing a fundamentally changed, data-informed strategy, the Broncos staff intends to achieve a 713% reduction in starter game losses, securing a strategic advantage over their competitors.

Fantasy Outlook

On offense, the addition of former first-round tight end Evan Engram is the highest upside off-season move that Denver has made.

End.
