New York Giants May Scouting Report
Tony DeArmas
5/26/2025
Here is the May update for the Giants after the draft and the conclusion of rookie mini camp:
The Giants had a very good draft according to most of the draft pundits. They addressed some areas of need as well as added talent to key positions.
The quarterback room will be even more crowded with the addition QB Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss. The GMen traded up at the end of Rd 1 to draft him. He had outstanding visits with Giants management and looks to be the quarterback of the future. With QB Russell Wilson the starter and QB Jameis Winston the backup, there is no rush to hurry Dart to play. He can learn the pro-style offense under these veterans as he ran more of an option attack in college. Dart is tough, smart and has a very good arm. I'm excited to see what he can do. He also has swag, which is very helpful in the New York market.
RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. will have a bruising running mate in the form of RB Cam Skattebo who Big Blue drafted in the 4th round. Skatt doesn't possess great straight-line speed but runs with power and has great balance. He also is very good catching the football. These two guys will be a nice combination. RB Devin Singletary is veteran insurance.
WR Malik Nabers will lead a solid receiving corps in 2025. WR Wan'dale Robinson and newly signed WR Darius Slayton round out the starting trio. All these receivers will benefit from improved quarterback play in 2025.
TE Theo Johnson showed great promise last year until getting hurt and missing the last one-third of the season. TE Thomas Fidone from Nebraska was drafted late and possesses some nice upside. He was highly touted nationally coming out of high school but sustained several injuries in college which impacted his draft stock. TE Daniel Bellinger is insurance at this point.
OLT Andrew Thomas needs to stay healthy this year. He is their best offensive lineman. Disappointing Evan Neal has been moved to guard and will be given an opportunity to win a starting job.
DT Dexter Lawrence, DE Kayvon Thibodeaux, LB Brian Burns, and first round pick DE Abdul Carter will give opposing offenses nightmares all season. The pass rush should be top notch, and Big Blue is going back to the mantra of having a strong defense.
LB Bobby Okereke and LB Micah McFadden lead a solid linebacking corps, but Okereke needs to have a bounceback season.
The secondary is much improved with the addition of young veterans like S Jevon Holland and CB Paulson Adebo.
That's it for now. More to come in June...
End.
