New York Giants July Scouting Report
Tony DeArmas
7/25/2025

Here is the Giants update for July two days into training camp:

QB Russell Wilson has been declared the starter at the beginning of camp. He has already shown his patented deep ball proficiency. In addition, his leadership skills have been on full display and appears to be the consummate teammate. QB Jameis Winston haslooked good so far whereas young QB Jaxson Dart struggled Day 1 but rebounded nicely on Day 2 showing off a strong arm as well as solid running ability.

RB Tyrone Tracy is the starter and will get plenty of reps in camp. Rookie RB Cam Skattebo is injury free and has already flashed his pass catching chops. An interesting player to follow in camp will be RB Dante Miller who is an explosive playmaker. Veteran RB Devin Singletary will provide mentorship and depth to this young group. RB Eric Gray was placed on the PUP list and may not make the final roster.

WR Malik Nabers is 100% cleared from the toe injury and is practicing without limitations. He already is looking great in camp making highlight reel catches and touchdowns. He had developed nice chemistry with Russ as well. WR Wan'dale Robinson is looking good so far making some nice catches and being his usual shifty self. WR Darius Slayton will provide his usual veteran production and presence. I'm interested to see how WR Jalin Hyatt performs after two disappointing seasons. He has added 15 lbs. of muscle in the offseason and should be able to hold to the physical demands of the position.

The tight end position isvery interesting. TE Theo Johnson will be the starter and brings exciting playmaking ability. In addition, rookie TE Thomas Fidone has impressed early in camp. TE Greg Dulcich is also in the mix with TE Daniel Bellinger. This is definitely an area of strength but none of these players are blockers so they are fighting hard for several roster spots.

The defense already is looking different in these early days of camp. Blitzes will be utilized more by DC Shane Bowen and should be extremely effective given the personnel at his disposal will look quite different this year under new DC Shane Bowen. Leading the way will be star DT Dexter Lawrence and LB Brian Burns. LB Kayvon Thibodeaux is looking to increase his sack total but the real X factor will be rookie EDGE Abdul Carter. He will be lined up all over the field and looks to be a handful so far for the offensive line. Another exciting tandem to watch are S Tyler Nubin and S Jevon Holland. They will anchor the back end of the defense nicely.

PK Graham Gano will be under the microscope. He has had injury problems the last 2 years and the team can save some money if he is released provided they can backfill the position adequately.

That's it for now.

More to come in August with preseason game news...

End.
