Washington Commanders March Scouting Report
David Vohs
3/19/2026

The Commanders are looking to move away from the 5-12 record of 2025 and back to the major successes of the 2024 season in the Nation’s Capital. The 2024 season featured a 12-5 record and a nice playoff run (NFC Championship Game) while the 2025 season featured a rough schedule, injury issues, aging veterans, and a disastrous start ending in a horrible season. The Commanders closed out last season with 4 straight division games, which can never be considered easy.

This leads us to 2026 and the upcoming NFL draft in April. The Commanders have the #7 overall pick and should land a very good player at that position. We will focus on the upcoming draft in next month’s report but a quick look spoiler alert says DE David Bailey from Texas Tech may be coming to Washington – what a great pick if he falls that far.

Ohio State Linebacker LB Sonny Styles and S Caleb Downs have also had a lot of mock drafts heading to Washington.

The Commanders have not been the biggest players in the free agent market but they have successfully added some depth to the team.

WR Van Jefferson and WR Dyami Brown (returning) have both been added for some depth to the receiver room.

TE Chig Okonikwo should take over as the starting TE on the Commanders and may signal the end of the fantasy run for TE Ben Sinnott.

At runningback, RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt and RB Jeremy McNichols face heavy competition from RB Rachaad White and RB Jerome Ford both new to the Commanders in 2026. Right now I’d say RB R White is the favorite to lead this group in 2026.

The Commanders have added depth on the defensive side of the ball as well adding LB Odafe Oweh, DE K’Lavon Chaisson, LB Leo Chenal, S Nick Cross and LB Amik Robertson all of which could start for the Commanders.

The schedule should be more favorable for this team and an injection of good free agents could go a long way to placing this team back on the winning route.

Again, next month we’ll focus on the draft, the draft picks and the draft needs for the Commanders.

Go Commanders!

End.
