Los Angeles Chargers March Scouting Report
Brad Willis
3/24/2026

The Chargers have made a few notable moves during free agency thus far. Many of them surround the team’s offensive line, which was atrocious. Whether they’ll be better in 2026 remains to be seen, but O-Line is probably the most pressing need to be addressed in the upcoming draft. EDGE, D-Line, and Corner are other needs. Here’s a look at the current state of the team.

QB: It’s my opinion that QB Justin Herbert is a top 10 NFL quarterback. But you have to protect him and give him time, and the Chargers offensive line did neither last year. Backup QB Trey Lance has been re-signed, but barring an injury to Herbert, he won’t matter from a fantasy perspective.

RB: Now in his 2nd year, RB Omarion Hampton returns, and I suspect the team will lean hard on him, making him a probable fantasy RB1. Recently signed was former Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell, and I like this addition. RB Kimani Vidal, who filled in surprisingly well for injured backs, will also return, although absent additional injuries, his value will be limited. RB Najee Harris is a free agent and it does not appear that he will be returning to the team.

WR: The Chargers 2026 receivers will likely look a lot like the 2025 version, with WR Ladd McConkey, WR Keenan Allen (not yet re-signed, but seems likely to be), WR Tre' Harris and WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith returning. WR Quentin Johnston may or may not return, as new trade rumors surface. His 5th year option is due May 1st, so the Bolts will either have to pay him or move him. I have mixed feelings about Johnston. Good speed, good separation, but I’m still not sold on his hands. More of a big play receiver than an every play route-running specialist.

TE: I suspect that 2nd year TE Oronde Gadsden II has the potential to be a terrific performer, and he showed real flashes of big potential. The Chargers have also signed former Ravens TE Charlie Kolar, who is primarily a blocking tight end but he should see a few looks here and there.

PK: At kicker, PK Cameron Dicker returns, and he is excellent.

DEF: The Chargers defense will be in transition, since former DC Jesse Minter has left the Chargers and is now the HC of the Ravens. The Chargers have renewed the contract of S Tony Jefferson, who was surprisingly good last year. They have also signed 6’3", 335 lb. DT Dalvin Tomlinson from the Cardinals. Departed is DT Da’Shawn Hand, who was signed by the Titans, and I think it was a mistake to let Hand go, but it’s done.

More to come next month!

End.
