Seattle Seahawks April Scouting Report
Rick Watts
4/10/2026
The Super Bowl LX Champion Seahawks have weathered the storm of the free agency frenzy, and the dust has finally settled. The "cost of winning" was real: we lost known performers like RB Kenneth Walker III (Chiefs), CB Tariq Woolen (Eagles), DE Boye Mafe (Bengals), and CB Coby Bryant (Bears) to massive paydays. However, General Manager John Schneider retained the core, keeping our most critical free agents while protecting our 2027 compensatory picks. With Brian Fleury finalizing his offensive staff by making Thomas Hammock the highest-paid RB coach in the NFL, the stage is set for the April draft. Even though they only have 4 picks, the right 4 can make a big difference especially with 3 in the 100.
Here is the updated fantasy and dynasty outlook for your 2026 Seattle Seahawks.
QB-
Darnold's Team. QB Sam Darnold was up and down last year but I think he is a stable fantasy QB2. He is efficient, managing zero turnovers throughout the playoff run, but the team's defensive and run-first identity caps his fantasy ceiling. Naysayers still think of him as really being who he was with the Jets or in the Viking's playoff game, but I think he found his comfort zone with this coaching staff and teammates and excelled accordingly.
Roster Status: Darnold (Incumbent Starter), QB Drew Lock (Backup), QB Jalen Milroe (Developmental Backup).
Draft Strategy: Low priority. The front office is not expected to spend any of their limited top-100 capital here.
Offensive Line-
The Seahawks re-signed LT Charles Cross to a massive extension and retained their core, but Right Guard remains the primary opportunity for improvement over RG Anthony Bradford.
Draft Targets:
RG Emmanuel Pregnon (Oregon): My absolute favorite target. He is in the same athletic tier as OT Lane Johnson and OT Tristan Wirfs. He boasts the highest zone-blocking grade in the draft (93.0) and would provide a boost to the run game no matter who is getting the rock.
RG Gennings Dunker (Iowa): Still a powerful option who fits the tough, physical identity of this line
RB-
It happened. RB Kenneth Walker III secured a 3-year, $45 million payday from Kansas City. This leaves a gaping hole in the backfield, exacerbated by the ACL uncertainty hanging over RB Zach Charbonnet.
Roster Status: To stop the bleeding, the team signed RB Emanuel Wilson from the Packers to a 1-year, $2.1M prove-it deal, and tendered ERFA RB George Holani. Still, the room lacks a true workhorse or game-breaker.
Fantasy Perspective: This backfield is wide open. If Seattle drafts a rookie early, that player immediately vaults into the RB1/RB2 conversation based purely on volume and scheme.
Draft Targets:
RB Jadarian Price (Notre Dame): The ultimate target to replace Walker's big-play ability. His 21.2% explosive run rate is the absolute best in the draft class. He is a perfect fit for the zone scheme and is consistently mocked as a target for Seattle at #32 or #64.
Jonah Coleman (Washington): A tough, physical local kid whose healthy 2024 tape showed elite missed-tackle forced rates. A fantastic Day 2 or Day 3 fallback.
WR-
Seattle cemented WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba's status as a dynasty cornerstone by signing the reigning OPOY to a market-resetting 4-year, $168.6M extension.
Roster Composition: In a shocking twist, the Seahawks retained the vertical threat by re-signing Rashid Shaheed ($17M APY). They also matched the Jaguars' offer sheet for Jake Bobo, keeping him in town as the primary power-slot understudy. Combined with Cooper Kupp, Seattle now boasts the most expensive WR room in the NFL at roughly $83 million APY.
Fantasy Perspective: JSN is an Elite WR1. Vacated targets lock him in as a volume king through his prime. Kupp remains a safe PPR Flex option, while Shaheed is a boom-or-bust deep threat whose returns can swing fantasy matchups.
Draft Targets: With Bobo and Cody White re-signed, wide receiver is no longer a pressing need, though a big-bodied "X" receiver like WR Denzel Boston (Washington) could be a luxury pick if he falls.
TE-
With Brian Fleury stepping up to OC, the tight end room is poised for a massive schematic bump, likely continuing but tweaking the heavy 12 and 13 personnel usage.
Player Analysis: TE AJ Barner remains the foundational piece, but TE Elijah Arroyo is the primary dynasty breakout candidate. Fleury's history with George Kittle suggests Arroyo's athleticism uniquely positions him to have a massive jump in value this year.
K-
PK Jason Myers will not get any true competition from the draft or undrafted free agents. He may have had the season of his career last year, but I have been cautious with my support of him over the years and may still be defaulting to the negative with him. Could we see a dropoff after he got a fabulous contract and became the scoring leader? He is 34 which is approaching "old" in the NFL even for a kicker. Obviously it is better for the Seahawks for him to remain a staple for the next several years into his late 30s and that is not unheard of for kickers.
D-
The "Dark Side" Re-tools. The defense lost several key starters but retained its core identity. CB Devon Witherspoon and LB Ernest Jones IV remain elite IDP options.
Free Agency: We lost Mafe, Woolen, and Bryant to big contracts, but retained crucial depth by re-signing CB Josh Jobe and LB Drake Thomas to a great 2-year, $8M deal. We also added CB Noah Igbinoghene and FS Rodney Thomas II to maintain secondary flexibility. Thomas is known for his football IQ, so he could have a high ceiling in this defense.
Draft Targets:
Cornerback: Colton Hood (Tennessee) is a physical shadow corner and perfect fit for #32. Chris Johnson (San Diego State) is another elite zone-coverage option who took an official Top-30 visit.
Edge: Mafe provided "quick wins" off the edge. With that in mind, EDGE Cashius Howell (Texas A&M) and EDGE Malachi Lawrence (UCF) are the premier speed rushers in this class, boasting elite 10-yard splits and max GPS speeds.
The Seahawks' path to a repeat depends heavily on Fleury's ability to orchestrate the run game without K9, but maybe even more on John Schneider's success in navigating a top-heavy draft with only four picks.
2026 Seattle Seahawks: Buy/Sell/Hold
BUY: Jaxon Smith-Njigba (The $168M contract guarantees elite volume) and (if drafted) Jadarian Price (he would step into an immediate opportunity to start and hold the majority of the carries).
SELL: Sam Darnold (Cash out on peak value after the Super Bowl run).
HOLD: Zach Charbonnet (Wait for news on his ACL - and draft news - before moving).
My updated draft hopes:
32 - OG Emmanuel Pregnon or CB Colton Hood
64 - RB Jadarian Price or EDGE Cashius Howell
96 - RB Jonah Coleman or CB Chris Johnson
188 - RB Emmett Johnson (still hoping he slides!)
Go Hawks!
End.
