Washington Commanders April Scouting Report
David Vohs
4/22/2026

The Washington Commanders have 6 draft picks in the 2026 NFL Draf. They do not have picks in round 2 and 4 but have two picks in Round 6.

The Commanders Picks are:

  • Round 1 (Pick 7)
  • Round 3 (Pick 71)
  • Round 5 (Pick 147)
  • Round 6 (Pick 187)
  • Round 6 (Pick 209)
  • Round 7 (Pick 223)

The Commanders need players everywhere on this team. I believe they should take the best player available. I would not spend a significant amount of draft capital to jump up and grab RB Jeremiyah Love but if he falls to 7 he will not fall further for sure. WR Carnell Tate is another highly intriguing option for the Commanders. Many believe WR Carnell Tate is the best and most polished WR in this draft and for QB Jayden Daniels to have that target with the other former Ohio State WR Terry Mclaurin on the other side, look out! WR Carnell Tate has amazing hands and can get the contested catches in most matchups.

Some other options are WR Jordyn Tyson (ASU) and EDGE David Bailey. The Commanders could also benefit from S Caleb Downs (OSU) who would help the defensive backfield something amazing.

For their round 3, 5, 6, 6, and 7 picks the Commanders need defensive back help, wide receiver help, offensive line help and a lot of defensive positions. At that point, they have to take the best players available as they come.

The Commanders rank 29thon total defensive efficiency, last in pass efficiency defense and yards per pas attempted defense. They also rank 31st in Red Zone Blend defense. The other numbers are not great either. So, the Commanders need to focus on bolstering their defense once they have taken one of the top players in the draft with the #7 pick.

I'm not sure the first 6 picks will go anywhere like most mock drafts, so the Commanders have a huge decision to make with a ton of talent at the top of this draft. For the sake of the team, let's hope the decision is heralded for years to come!

Go Commanders!

End.
