Indianapolis Colts June Scouting Report
Chris Rito
6/24/2026

Hey there Colts’ fans! It has been a relatively slow and quiet month from the Colts Corral. The veteran minicamps wrapped up earlier this month, and the team will now look ahead to the start of the formal training camp for the entire team at the end of July. This is definitely still a team and a roster in some significant flux and with a great deal of uncertainty for the upcoming season, but here are a few things that were observed:

The top two rookie draft picks have been flashing some real potential in camp workouts thus far. LB CJ Allen has been everything they expected when the Colts took him in round two. While he and the coaches all admit that he still has some work to do, he has shown incredible promise and may actually serve as the "green dot" player for the defense in 2026 despite being a rookie. This means that they trust him with his grasp of the defenses, and that they don’t plan for him to be off the field much. Considering the tackling machines that the Colts have produced in this scheme (with, frankly, lesser skilled athletes), he could be a real value in defensive IDP leagues as a rookie. Third round pick S AJ Haulcy has also been making some flash plays and is looking to slot in as a starter next to veteran S Cam Bynum. Both Bynum and Coach Anarumo have repeatedly cited his natural instincts for the game which far exceed his rookie status, as well as his versatility to be used in numerous ways within the scheme.

But perhaps this biggest news for most football fans and definitely for the fantasy community is the health and rehab progress of starting QB Daniel Jones and WR Alec Pierce. Pierce was believed earlier in the offseason to have had a setback (e.g., a surgical procedure in March) and was delayed in his return to working out, but the team is still confident they will get him back on the field "some time during training camp." This ambiguity and delay are surely not comforting when they recently made him one of the league’s highest paid receivers and traded WR Michael Pittman, but perhaps this means that there will be a draft day discount for Pierce especially in early summer drafts. He should be the top receiver for the team in 2026 for a team that may need to pass more than they did in 2025.Jones is also progressing nicely from his mid-season Achilles tear, and is still expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 season, and even more surprising for the start of training camp. I am sure that his mobility will be limited (either physically, or by choice), which could reduce his fantasy value more than a little. The bigger impact of this news is that RB Jonathan Taylor won’t see overstacked boxes as much, the receiving corps will not get downgraded, and the team will not be seeking veteran quarterback help for the start of the season (for example, there had been rumors about former Colt Gardner Minshew as a bridge starter).

The backup quarterback battle will potentially be one of the most intriguing parts of camp. By all accounts, former top pick QB Anthony Richardson has looked solid, and his upside is clearly exponentially better than any other passer on the roster (including Jones). Popular young QB Riley Leonard continues to grow and build upon his limited experience late in 2025 and probably could be a decent NFL backup. If Jones is fully ready to go in week 1, then surely one of these two would be traded – likely Richardson because his potential may return higher draft capital. To keep all three, they would have to be rostered out of training camp because neither Richardson nor Leonard would get through waivers to get back to the practice squad. An electric performance by Richardson in camp and preseason games might actually increase the chance of him being traded and not kept, since his trade value could skyrocket in a way that Leonard’s value simply can not.

Like I said, it has been a pretty quiet month in Indy. Expect more as camp kicks off in late July, and as reports on the health of two major offensive stars gets updated. Until then, goodbye for now from the Crossroads of America!

End.

Testimonials

"I began using FFM in the late 1990s. For 20+ years they were an extremely valuable resource, as I enjoyed great success in my league during that period. Unfortunately, my league came to an end during the Covid years, and I stopped subscribing to FFM. After a year without Fantasy Football, I started looking into online sports betting and quickly realized FFM could again become a valuable source of information for prop bets on individual players. I resumed my subscription with FFM and have not looked back. FFM is clearly a dual threat; they can severely increase your odds of success in both fantasy leagues as well as prop betting. I almost feel guilty with the tremendous returns I get from such a modest investment in FFM."
