Los Angeles Chargers June Scouting Report
Brad Willis
6/26/2026

I’d say the Chargers have been fine-tuning rather than tearing down the house. The offensive line is revamped. Only time will tell if they’ll be better. They couldn’t be much worse. Let’s look at the current state of the team, from a fantasy perspective.

QB: I consider QB Justin Herbert to be, surprisingly, a bit of a value play. He’s likely a top 10 quarterback, and possibly a top 5 option. Holding him back is an uncertain offensive line, and reliance on the running game. Will new OC Mike McDaniel open things up for him? We’ll see.

RB: If he remains health, RB Omarion Hampton has top 5 potential. RB Kimani Vidal and newly acquired RB Keaton Mitchell have potential, but either belong on the bench as a late round stash, or probably in the free agent pool in many leagues. Either could surprise, particularly if Hampton is injured again.

WR: It appears that longtime veteran WR Keenan Allen won’t be returning. Your top option likely remains WR Ladd McConkey as a WR2 but keep an eye on him for potential upgrade or downgrade, as he had an off year in 2025. WR Quentin Johnston returns as a big play boom/bust option. With Allen gone, expect to see more of WR Tre’ Harris and to a lesser extent WR KeAndre Lambert Smith, although the last two are in the "watch and see" category. Rookie speedster WR Brenen Thompson has signed and should be featured on special teams.

TE: Not sure what to make of the Chargers at tight end. TE David Njoku has been signed, as has TE Charlie Kolar. TE Oronde Gadsden looked solid last season, and if it wasn’t for the signing of Kolar and Njoku, I’d consider Gadsden a likely breakout candidate. But he has quality competition, so be careful here. Another watch and learn situation, but if one performs well, grab him.

PK: This is easy. PK Cameron Dicker will be a top 10 option. He’s solid and consistent.

DEF: The defense has gone through several changes, not all of them good. They’ve lost their defensive coordinator, and I’m not sure what to make of them. They are usually average to a bit above average, so we’ll go with that for now. Good luck in your fantasy drafts!

End.
