Arizona Cardinals June Scouting Report
David Vohs
6/30/2026

Okay, so OTA’s are complete and Training Camps are just around the corner!

Let’s look at positional battles shall we?

QB: QB Kyler Murray is gone. Now it’s up to one of 4 quarterbacks that will enter camp in 2026. QB Jacoby Brissett was the incumbent but his new contract demands might get in the way. QB Jacoby Brissett is in the final year of his 2 year deal and wants a new contract. Brissett currently is slated to make $5.44M this year with $1.5 guaranteed. That’s not starter OR backup QB money in the NFL, however you did sign the deal. For example QB Garnder Minshew will received over $5.1M guaranteed so how can you fault Brissett?

Who likely wins: QB Jacoby Brissett was electric at times and QB Garner Minshew would be a very capable backup.

RB: Well the Cardinals went against MY suggestion and drafted RB Jerehmiyah Love with the #3 overall pick. If they wanted Love, they had to draft him there, I get it, but that’s a lot to spend on even a generational rookie. RB Jeremiyah Love signed a 4 year fully guaranteed $53.02M rookie contract with the Cardinals and featured a $25.02 million signing bonus and a fifth-year team option. He basically never needs to work again in his life is he is smart with his money. So there’s your starting RB. Now, the issue is RB James Conner, RB Tyler Algeier, RB Trey Benson, RB Bam Knight and RB Corey Kiner all have more NFL experience than RB Jeremiyah Love. So, the Cards will have to figure out how to work in their new team running back and work in at least RB James Conner or see if they can work out a trade for a RB needy team for Conner in my opinion. They need youth and speed not Conner this season in my opinion. Look for RB Jeremiyah Love to get the ball early and often for this team but give others the opportunity – especially RB Tyler Allgeier who signed for a significant FA contract as well.

WR: This is a make or break year for the Cardinal’s wide receiver room. Can WR Michael Wilson improve on his 2025 stats. Can WR Marvin Harrison Jr live up to expectations in 2026? Can someone else step up to be a #3 and stay on the field? Candidates for the #3 job include WR Kendrick Bourne, WR Devin Duvernay, WR Jalen Brooks, WR Simi Fehoko, WR Bryson Green, WR Tejhaun Palmer, WR Reggie Virgil, WR Xavier Weaver, and a couple others. I believe in the beginning we will see WR Kendrick Bourne on the field as the #3 mostly but look out for WR Reggie Virgil. He should make the team for special teams at first but could see the field more and more as the season goes by. He could be the deep threat the Cardinals haven’t really seen since WR Steve Breaston!

TE: Ummm Can you say Trey McBride? Entering his 5th NFL season, McBride is 26 and in his full prime! Others on the roster can not fill his shoes. It’s McBride or die this season. Perhaps the Cardinals can find something left in Free Agency. Some options could be TE Zach Ertz (doubtful due to late season injury), TE Darren Waller (good option), TE Will Dissly, TE Jonnu Smith (could be too expensive) but there are options out there. I wouldn’t mind seeing TE Taysom Hill get a try-out! Why not!

K: Right now PK Chad Ryland is the only kicker on the roster, but I seriously doubt someone will be rostering the Cardinals’ kicker early in the season anyway. They are probably underdogs in all if not 90% of their games.

Well, let’s see what unfolds during training camp!

Go Cardinals!
