Washington Commanders June Scouting Report
David Vohs
6/30/2026
Okay, so OTA’s are complete and Training Camps are just around the corner!
Let’s look at positional battles shall we?
QB: Well, if he can stay healthy, this position is a no brainer and may be a candidate for comeback player of the year. QB Jayden Daniels is the starter when healthy. No debate. QB Marcus Mariota (age 32), QB Athan Kaliakmanis (age 22) and QB Sam hartman (age 26) will battle for the #2 or Practice Squad positions. The question is where are YOU drafting QB Jayden Daniels?
RB: This is a position that seems to be wide open this year. There are 6 Running Backs on the current Commanders roster. RB Kaytron Allen (Rookie), RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (starter parts of last year), RB Jerome Ford (age 34), RB Robert Henry (R), RAB Jeremy McNichols (age 30), and RB Rachaad White (from Tampa Bay). Right now the depth chart looks something like this:
RB1 RB Rachaad White (Starter and 3rd Down Back)
RB2 RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Early Down/Power Back)
RB3 RB Jerome Ford
RB4 RB Kaytron Allen
In that order.
WR:Wide Receiver for the Commanders is going to be highly by committee this year. At the WR1 X receiver you have WR Terry McLaurin with WR Treylon Burks backing him up. At the WR 2 Y receiver you have WR Luke McCaffrey and WR Jaylin Lane backing him up. At the Slot Receiver Y you have a rotation of WR Van Jefferson, WR Kyami Brown, and Wr Jacoby Jones. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Commanders may add some talent yet in free agency.
TE: For Fantasy Football, there are currently only 2 Washington Commanders you need to worry about. 1) Starter TE Chig Okonkwo and TE2 TE Ben Sinnott. Period, the end. I doubt they bring others in. They also have blocking TE John Bates and TE Colson Yankoff as a special teamer and depth.
PK: At Kicker, the Commanders have 2 place kickers on the team as of this writing. PK Jake Moody and K Drew Stevens. Time will tell who wins this battle. PK Jake Moody is signed to a 1 year $1.4M deal with #125k guaranteed. PK Drew Stevens signed a 3 year $3M deal with $2.5k guaranteed money. Can you guess which will be easier to cut? Watch this camp battle!
Keeping QB Jayden Daniels healthy is key this year. Giving him a bit more talent is also a priority.
Go Commanders!
End.
