Dallas Cowboys Early August Scouting Report
Dr. Gil Brovar
8/14/2026

The Cowboys have had a very nice start in training camp with a successful joint practice with the Rams. Last season the Rams were able to do whatever they wanted against our defense but this time our defense performed very well, confusing QB Matt Stafford with various looks. Our offense also played well including our top 3 receivers. The 2 areas of concern were that RB Jaydon Blue fumbled and OL Terence Steele was beaten frequently.

DT Quinnen Williams was signed to a huge extension which will save them cap room to acquire more talent before the season starts because of the way it was structured. Rumors are that they are still trying to trade for EDGE Maxx Crosby and/or LB Jordan Phillips.

The areas of weakness on the time are at EDGE, LB and OL depth as well as starting RT. While they may be working on upgrading EDGE and LB, there does not appear to be many viable options to add at OL. Backup running back is always a concern until the younger players show something. However, RB Malik Davis may end up being the backup they need.

They will have to decide who will be the number 3 TE after TE Jake Ferguson and TE Brevyn Spann-Ford. They could decide to move on from TE Luke Schoonmaker. UDFA TE Michael Trigg is a matchup nightmare but has a lot to learn about the subtleties of the position.

There are questions at the Lbposition and it is possible that LB DeMarivionOvershown could lose his starting job to LB Shemar James. Showing well in camp has been LB Jaishahwn Barham.

EDGE Malachi Lawrence appears to have a steep learning curve although he has all the physical traits. This could be why they are looking to add a veteran EDGE.

S Caleb Downs has been outstanding as has CB Shavon Revel, Jr.

Overall, the roster appears to be very good and we await the first pre-season game. However, they generally do not play any starters so these games may not mean much.

End.

"...there are several speciality sites out there that cater to the fantasy crowd... Good sites for fantasy football include:... (www.ffmastermind.com)."
-- Al Gibes, The Online Guy - Las Vegas Review-Journal, September, 3rd, 2001

"I began using FFM in the late 1990s. For 20+ years they were an extremely valuable resource, as I enjoyed great success in my league during that period. Unfortunately, my league came to an end during the Covid years, and I stopped subscribing to FFM. After a year without Fantasy Football, I started looking into online sports betting and quickly realized FFM could again become a valuable source of information for prop bets on individual players. I resumed my subscription with FFM and have not looked back. FFM is clearly a dual threat; they can severely increase your odds of success in both fantasy leagues as well as prop betting. I almost feel guilty with the tremendous returns I get from such a modest investment in FFM."
-- Sal B.

"After being cheap for a couple seasons - and having the results to show for it - I subscribed again last year and promptly won my league. You guys do an excellent job. I love the Tiering approach - it really makes it easier to figure out the best way to make good value picks."
-- Brian Hammond
