Dominant! Is how you could describe the Rams in their 34-0 home win against the Saints. Los Angeles was sharp in all three phases of the game and got major contributions from several of their young players trying to make the 53-man roster. The Rams have one more pre-season game before they have to make their final cuts and GM Les Snead and HC Sean McVay will have to make some tough decisions. It will be an even harder task if/when DL Aaron Darnold returns to the team. Let’s take a look at current Fantasy positions and how the roster is shaping up.

QUARTERBACK: QB Stetson Bennett (19-31 for 181 passing and 2-9 rushing with 2 rushing touchdowns) played the entire first half and was very successful leading the offense. QB Ty Simpson (8-12 for 73 passing and 3-10 rushing) played the second half and did a solid performance although not as spectacular as his debut. There were whispers that the Rams might trade Bennett after another impressive pre-season; however, McVay told reporters the team would keep three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, although he did not say who his number two quarterback is. QB Matthew Stafford is having a nice training camp and is ready to build upon his 2025 MVP season. I have no ranking Matthew as a top 12 Fantasy quarterback making him a late QB1.

RUNNING BACK: RB Kyren Williams, RB Blake Corum, and RB Ronnie Rivers got the day off again, which is surprising to be in River’s case. RB Jarquez Hunter (12-68 with 1 touchdown) had his best day as a professional and might have saved his roster spot. RB Jordan Waters (10-54 rushing and 1-4 receiving) had another productive day and I like his running style, which is more powerful than any of the other backs. RB Dean Connors (2-5 rushing) had a quiet game after his impressive debut. Hunter is similar to the top three backs in size and style but might could have earned the number four slot. If Waters and Connors do not make the final roster both could be on the practice squad, and I would not be surprised if another team plucked them for their 53-man roster. Kyren is a low end RB1 high end RB2 in Fantasy and Corum is a high quality handcuff.

WIDE RECEIVER: The top five receivers sat this game out, including WR Xavier Smith, which means he will return as the main punt return man. I like that move because not counting the last game against the Seahawks, Xavier was a very good return man who also contributed on offense. Rookie WR CJ Daniels (8-68) took advantage of his extra playing time and is the only receiver who played that should make the final roster. I am surprised that WR Jordan Whittington and WR Konata Mumpfield have not taken any snaps this preseason, especially Mumpfield who is only in his second season. When healthy, Puka is easily a top 5 Fantasy receiver is not top 2. Davante is still a top 20-25 receiver and a solid WR2 in Fantasy.

TIGHT END: Rookie TE Max Klare (4-12) was the only active tight end who will make the final roster. The Rams have rested their top four tight ends this pre-season and I thought TE Davis Allen would get some action. Klare has potential to be a solid pro but do not expect much productivity in his rookie season unless there is an injury to one of the top four or if Klare can somehow overtake Allen on the depth chart. Because the Rams use so many tight ends, no one in particular stands out in Fantasy. Ferguson has the most potential and could produce decent TE2 numbers.

KICKER: PK Harrision Mevis (2-2 FG (26 & 26) and 4-4 XPs) has made all of his kicks and could be a solid kicker with this potent team. I have no problem taking him as my starting Fantasy kicker.

DEFENSE: This unit dominated the Saints with three turnovers, including a pick six by DB Alex Cook, and not allowing any points. Undrafted Free Agent LB Wesley Bailey ((2 solos, 3 assists, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, 4 quarterback hits, and 1 forced fumble) was the defensive star of the game and hopefully earned a spot on the final roster. I am excited to see how well this unit can play when their starters are on the field. There could be several solid IDPs for your Fantasy team, led by DPOY DE Myles Garrett. I think ED Byron Young and LB Nate Landman could also be very productive for your Fantasy team.

The Rams have won their first two pre-season games handily with their backups (some third stringers) so I hope the starters will have the same type of success during the regular season.
